What is the major different between a research proposal and research methodology?

A research proposal is also known as a dissertation proposal or just a proposal which is written before the actual dissertation after the selection of a topic. Once the topic is selected students are required to write a dissertation proposal so that they can continue a dissertation on its behalf. A dissertation proposal is not that long and different strategies and policies are framed in it. A research proposal should be written with extreme care so that dissertation can be properly managed according to the proposal. The marks of the proposal are added in the evaluation of the final dissertation.

However, a research methodology is normally the third chapter of a dissertation. A research methodology chapter contains headings like introduction, research strategies, data collection methods, research types, limitations of the research, etc. A research methodology chapter sets the tone for the entire dissertation because it gives a detailed explanation about the research.
